PRYCE was founded by Gideon Onyango, a development practitioner with extensive experience in community-based development and leadership of grassroots organizations.

He has served as Country Advisor to the Van Doorn Foundation (The Netherlands), reviewing scholarship applications and grant proposals.

The founder of the Foundation, Paul Sutmuller, has also been a role model and source of inspiration.

Gordon Ochieng

Technical Advisor – Environmental Management & Sustainable Agriculture

Gordon Ojwang is a passionate environmental and agricultural development professional whose journey reflects resilience, academic excellence, and a deep commitment to community transformation. Raised and educated in rural Kenya, Gordon’s early exposure to farming communities shaped his lifelong dedication to sustainable agriculture, environmental restoration, and improving learning environments in underserved areas. Professional Background Gordon began his education at Nyasaoro Primary School before proceeding to Kojwach Secondary School, where he excelled academically and developed a strong interest in Agriculture under the mentorship of his teacher, Mr. Oganga. This early inspiration laid the foundation for a career focused on practical solutions for food security, environmental conservation, and community livelihoods. In 2016, Gordon enrolled at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology, graduating in 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness Management (Second Class Honours – Upper Division). His academic journey later expanded internationally when he pursued a Master’s degree in International Farm Management at Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences in Germany, completing his studies in 2025. This global exposure strengthened his understanding of modern farming systems, agribusiness models, and sustainable land use practices applicable to both Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa. Practical Experience & Field Leadership Gordon brings hands-on experience across dairy and poultry value chains: • Extension Officer – Malanga Dairy Cooperative (2021–2022): Supported smallholder farmers with modern dairy practices, farm management, and productivity improvement. • Poultry Farm Manager – Upendo Cooperative (2022–2023): Led poultry production systems, biosecurity practices, and value chain development for improved farmer incomes and food security. • Practical Internship – Framgarn Dairy Farm, Sweden (2025): Currently gaining exposure to advanced dairy management, animal welfare standards, climate-smart farming, and environmentally responsible production systems at Framgarn Dairy Farm. Beyond formal roles, Gordon actively mentors young and small-scale farmers, transferring practical skills in sustainable production, environmental stewardship, and agribusiness management. His community-based approach aligns strongly with development partners seeking grassroots impact with measurable outcomes. Role at PRYCE CBO At PRYCE CBO, Gordon serves as Technical Advisor for Environmental Management, supporting initiatives that integrate: • ? Restoration of degraded school environments • ? Upgrading learning environments through greening, tree planting, and climate-resilient landscaping • ? Environmental conservation and nature restoration • ? Increased food production through climate-smart agriculture • ? Eco-friendly water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) surroundings in schools His role bridges education, environment, and food systems, ensuring that schools become centers of learning, nutrition, and environmental responsibility. Violet A. Onyango

Technical Advisor Health & Education

Violet is a highly skilled technical professional with a Diploma in Dairy Technology from Egerton University and a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Technology and Administration. She brings over a decade of hands-on experience as a technician and administrator at the Technical University of Kenya, alongside a strong background in research and development. At PRYCE CBO, Violet serves as the Technical Advisor for Health, Education, and Environmental Programs. Her work is grounded in practical problem-solving, evidence-based planning, and strong institutional systems. She combines technical expertise with administrative leadership to support effective project design, implementation, and monitoring. Expected Contribution to PRYCE CBO’s Mission In line with PRYCE CBO’s goals, Violet is expected to play a key role in strengthening the quality, sustainability, and impact of programs across three core areas: Education: She will support the design and implementation of practical, skills-based learning initiatives, promote quality assurance in training programs, and contribute to capacity building for teachers and community facilitators. Her institutional experience will help improve systems, documentation, and accountability in education projects. Health: Violet will provide technical input in community health initiatives, particularly those linked to nutrition, hygiene, and preventive health practices. Her research background will support data-driven decision-making, monitoring of outcomes, and continuous improvement of health interventions. Onyango Gideon

Founder & Executive Director: Leadership | Strategy | Donor Engagement

Gideon Onyango is the Founder and Executive Director of PRYCE CBO, which he established in 2011 to address systemic barriers to education, health, and socio-economic development among underserved communities in Kenya. With over 15 years of experience in community development, Gideon combines grassroots expertise with high-level program management to deliver impactful, donor-aligned interventions. Holding a Diploma in Community Development, Gideon has spent the last decade managing donor-funded programs with a strong emphasis on accountability, measurable outcomes, and sustainability. His six-year tenure as National Advisor for the Van Doorn Foundation in Kenya provided him with extensive experience in evaluating funding proposals, overseeing scholarship programs, and advising on strategic investments—giving him a critical understanding of donor priorities and compliance requirements. His professional background includes roles with Plan International and EGPAF, where he contributed to the design and implementation of child-cantered development programs. He also works with LVCT Health, supporting HIV care and treatment initiatives, further strengthening his expertise in managing large-scale health programs. Under his leadership, PRYCE CBO aligns its work with global development priorities, including: • SDG 4 (Quality Education) – expanding access to inclusive learning environments • SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) – strengthening community health systems • SDG 1 (No Poverty) – promoting long-term socio-economic empowerment Gideon provides strategic oversight, builds international partnerships, and ensures that all programs are evidence-based, community-driven, and results-oriented.
